Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Overview

Janbak is a social app for airline passengers. It uses Bluetooth mesh networking (via Bridgefy) to let passengers on the same flight connect with each other — with no internet connection required. Your privacy is central to how the app is designed.

What we collect

Janbak collects only what you voluntarily provide:
  • Your display name
  • Your flight number and seat
  • Your status and interest tags
This information is stored locally on your device and broadcast only over Bluetooth to nearby passengers using the app on the same flight. It is never sent to our servers.

Bluetooth and location

Janbak uses Bluetooth to communicate with nearby devices. On iOS, accessing Bluetooth may require location permission — this is an iOS system requirement. We do not collect, store, or transmit your location data.

What we do not collect

  • We do not require an account or email address
  • We do not track your location
  • We do not collect analytics or crash data without your consent
  • We do not sell your data to third parties

Data storage

All data (name, flight info, preferences) is stored locally on your device using on-device storage. It is not transmitted to any Janbak server. When you close the flight session, your data remains on your device and can be cleared at any time by deleting the app.

Third-party services

Janbak uses the Bridgefy SDK to enable Bluetooth mesh networking. Bridgefy's own privacy policy governs their data handling. We encourage you to review it at bridgefy.me.

Children

Janbak is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
